There's an old cliché about how you can't foresee the future, but I'm quite sure whomever coined the term had no idea of trend forecasting.
Buyers, editors, and the fashion set may not be able to forecast which designer handbag will be the next It bag or which style aesthetic will dominate TikTok,
but we do know trends. It doesn't necessarily make us clairvoyant, but knowing what will be popular allows us to focus on what we want to bring into our wardrobes for the following season.
Of course, knowing which patterns have made a return doesn't make the purchasing experience any easier.
